A very nice native trout.

Today I finally meet with one of my  IMAGO customers to go fishing finally. This date was skipped and skipped due to work, holidys etc etc.

Bernard told me a couple of times that fishing in his area was fantastic, nice parts of a river that 10 years ago was completely dead due to pollution, but there were a couple of side streams still holding native brown trout.  The value of these native brown trout was the key to today’s success of the river. The pollution stopped, somehow the river is washed clean and an amazing insect life started, all different kind of insects are in the river at the moment, huge amount of scuds are there so the river has a very big “food” production for the fish in the river. The success of today is al be done by a group of passionate fisherman, they started their own hatchery and produce each year around 150.000 – 200.000 small trout to be put in the river at the size of 6 – 8 cm. By the potential of the river the small trout grow up to 12 – 15 cm within the first year in the river. So knowing this there is absolutely no need for stocking foreign fish or rainbow trout from 30 cm's or bigger. The last years the river is back in top shape and holding brown trout up to 80 cm, can you believe this? And that in a stream only 9 km away from the border of Liège..........? The stretch is NO KILL but can be fished with fly’s or lures.

To make it short, I found out that it's an amazing stream and yes it holds very beautiful brown trout but good size grayling as well.
